Isabel Walker, a Berkeley film-school dropout, travels to Paris to assist her pregnant stepsister, Roxy, whose husband has left her. In her tight circle of expatriates, Isabel learns--not always painlessly--about the relations between Americans and French, and grows to an understanding of cultural differences.
